The Miami Dolphins activated leading rusher Myles Gaskin off injured reserve, the team announced Saturday.

The return of Gaskin is a timely one, considering the Dolphins (7-4) are particularly thin at the position heading into Sunday's game against the visiting Cincinnati Bengals (2-8-1).

Gaskin, 23, leads the team in carries (100) and rushing yards (387) and shares top honors with two rushing touchdowns while playing in seven games (five starts) this season. He also has 30 receptions for 198 yards.

The second-year running back has been sidelined since sustaining a sprained knee in Miami's 28-17 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Nov. 1.

Patrick Laird, 25, is the lone remaining healthy running back on the roster heading into Sunday's game. Laird has rushed four times for 27 yards this season.

Also on Saturday, the Dolphins elevated safety Nate Holley from the practice squad to the active roster.
