The Minnesota Twins have signed infielder Andrelton Simmons to a one-year, $10.5 million deal, according to multiple reports Tuesday night.

Simmons, 31, has won four Gold Glove awards in nine seasons with the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Angels. He is a .269 career hitter, three times hitting double-digit home runs and four times swiping double-digit bases.

In 2020, Simmons hit .297 with 10 RBIs and two stolen bases in 30 games with the Angels. He is expected to serve as the Twins' everyday shortstop, with Jorge Polanco moving to second base.

The Twins' signing of Simmons followed a busy day in which multiple infielders joined new teams. Marcus Semien reportedly agreed to terms with the Toronto Blue Jays, while the Baltimore Orioles inked Freddy Galvis. Cleveland re-signed infielder Cesar Hernandez to a one-year pact.
